What happens to the settlers in an eventual two-state solution? Do they remain citizens of Israel living as ex-pats in Palestine, or do they become "Palestinian Hebrews," akin to "Israeli Arabs?"

Either way, it seems to me like punting the problem down the field. No matter how much you strengthen Palestinian institutions and give them elections and all the de facto components of statehood, it's difficult to imagine them being any more than a semi-occupied pseudo-state without true control of their resources, ports of entry, and borders.

Is a one-state solution even considered as a possibility? I know it's unpopular, as it would effectively involve wiping both Israel and Palestine off the map. But it seems to me that the only way to create a lasting peace between two peoples who want the same land is to make both peoples share the same land.
