It’s not often that I find myself agreeing with Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), but he had it right in saying that canceling projects “would have a detrimental effect on the economy and will negate any gains made by the stimulus.”

Notable in its absence from Inhofe’s remark, naturally, is any mention of how to raise the needed revenue for the gas-tax-funded Trust Fund. Hey, perhaps increasing the IRA contribution limit and slashing capital gains tax collections will pay for it!

Of course people aren’t going to like it. Carless people get pissed off when tranist providers raise fares, but county commissioners or whoever is responsible in that jurisdiction do it – ’cause it’s right and needed.

A gas tax hike is right and needed.
