Obama Set to Revive Military Commissions

The Obama administration is preparing to revive the system of military commissions established at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, under new rules that would offer terrorism suspects greater legal protections, government officials said.

Congress Weighs O’Connor, Volcker, Levitt to Investigate Crisis

Retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker and former Securities and Exchange Commission chief Arthur Levitt are among those being considered by congressional leaders to head a probe of the financial crisis, people familiar with the matter said.

The panel's results supposedly will be used to reform the financial system. If the Carlyle Group's Arthur Levittt gets the chair, count on private equity getting a free pass.

Friday afternoon news story, a tool Bush used extensively:

Obama Administration Maintains Bush-Era Policy on Polar Bears

The Obama Administration has decided to keep a Bush-era policy on polar bears -- declining to crack down on greenhouse-gas polluters on the grounds that their emissions are helping shrink the bears' habitat on Arctic sea ice, officials announced today.

Doing the math, GM's foreign built car sales grow from 372,000 in 2010 to 728,500 in 2014. Government owned GM will send jobs overseas. Didn't President Obama just discourage that practice?
