Van did a great job. Energy efficiency, conservation and new technologies are critical to our present and our future. Green collar jobs are the opportunity to begin to turn our economy around.

But we must not forget food security. Today, the average meal travels 1500 miles to the American dinner table. As fuel prices go back up and supplies dwindle, this fact is a recipe for calamity. We need to restore reliable local food networks, farmers' markets and local food shops. We need to use new food growing technologies to increase safe, organic food production, reduce water use and costs to the American family. It's a critical part of our national security, and a great economic opportunity for all communities.
