Insurance companies screen out those who actually need it, impose a littany of methods to deny claims, and shaft anyone not covered under a group insurance plan. George W. Bush did nothing to stop these practices. Instead he encouraged people to self insure for the first $5,000 to $10,000 in annual health expenditures. The problem? Most people have no cash in their tax free health savings accounts and many employers contribute $0 to such accounts. I'm sure the Heritage Foundation wants more of Bush's "private", "free market" solutions. I'm sure WellPoint Board member William H.T. Bush feels likewise. He's also know to the President as "Uncle Bucky". “Free market” health insurance is a rip off.
