I just heard this guy's "talk" on talk radio, and did a quick Google. This guy is an idiot. 3 Deg C = 5.4 Deg F, not 11 Deg F like he said. ANY "scientist" (any high school science teacher) would catch that mistake immediately.

These are the people talking "cap and trade", costing the global economy $ trillions. Yep, we're in good hands, aren't we.

"Now, three degrees Centigrade doesn’t seem a lot to you, that’s 11° F. "

That is not accurate.

How about we avoid this toxic legacy left to some future wunderkids to "transmute" and NOT build anymore nuclear plants in this country. Other countries will figure it out for themselves when their sites start leaking into the groundwater like those in the US. This guy is smart enough to lead us to the clean energy promised land without any more nukes and it will be better for the economy too.

I like Chu's thoughts on nuclear: Instead of trying to open Yucca Mountain, lets put all the excess nuclear waste in temporary distributed underground vaults until we've constructed the necessary equipment to reduce its half life to a few centuries. Does that decrease the chemical toxicity of the decay progeny as well? (And is there any way to know without waiting those few centuries?)

In any case, a larger number of widely-distributed smaller underground dry cask storage vaults is a hell of a lot better than above-ground dry cask storage, and apparently more politically feasible than a Yucca Mountain-sized project. It's basically what we have been doing, so let's keep doing it. Since the economy is deflating, let's spend a lot of money to build enough to eliminate above-ground dry cask storage from now until 2025.

Nuclear power releases only 1% as much uranium as burning coal in the US, but none of the mercury.

What can I do to get this guy on the job?
In High School in 1969 I did a report on climate change and pollution. Now we may get serious, finally.
