Economic polarization is at the root of The 9/22/08 Economic Crisis. Causes: 1. redistribution to CEOs and executives, 2. "free trade" offshoring undermining wages, 3. Fed policy undermining wages & unions: There's no 'free market' for Labor, 4. Increased regressive taxation, decreased progressive taxation, 5. Mortgage fraud with brokers pushing people into unsustainable fixed-rate balloon loans to pump up fees. The US economy is dying: Jobs & 'Trade' Data Update Oct08.

Anti-union forces oppose The Employee Free Choice Act on the basis that it would bring worker intimidation, but the existing, vicious intimidation comes from corporations that fire union organizers in a heartbeat with little or no penalty.

ActionJackson:

For what reason do you suggest that anyone voluntarily relinquishing their right to collective bargaining should retain the right to anonymity? The First Amendment protects the rights of associations to form under the charter of their members' choosing, and if the members choose to make their roster public, any restrictions on that right is clearly unconstitutional and the legislature needs to make that abundantly clear.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Employee_Free_Choice_Act (H.R. 800, S. 1041)

If you have a problem with income disparity and the decline of real wages, I suggest you examine your economic beliefs from first principles.

Two points:

1) There is a reason why our political elections are done by secret ballot; it is the same reason why union elections/formations are the same way. If someone does not want a union to be formed they should not be called out on it.

2) If the bottom 10% make $5800 and are working 40 hours a week they are getting $2.70/hr. I don' think these numbers tell the full story.

Which organizations are pushing Congress to recognize unionization by signing an assent card? Which congresspeople have taken the correct stand on this issue and what is the bill number we should be calling our local congressional representation asking them to cosponsor?

While CEO pay continues to be an issue, what about VPs, Board of Directors pay, and other senior management? I haven't seen any studies on this. Demonizing CEO really doesn't show the whole salary picture IMO.
