stateofthediv: If there's an option to join a new "Medicare-like" non-employee version of the federal employee's health plan which figured so prominently in the debates, and it's at no net cost to the enrollee, then I will forgive Baucus for accepting those donations.

WaPo: I agree; there is no reason this couldn't be a 1.5-year plan. We have the technology, and we need the jobs.

WaPo says:

The Baucus plan outlines an ambitious path for providing health coverage to every American in less than 10 years. Eventually, his approach would impose a mandate on every individual and large employer to participate in the system.

That puts us on the same timeline as China for providing health care to citizens.

Wow, Max mixed aspects of the Wyden plan with McCain's and added a few ideas of his own.

American industry wants badly to shed that pesky health insurance benefit. I don't see enough details in the NYT piece as to employer requirements and if they are time limited, as they were under Ron Wyden's proposal.

Rest assured, Max's for-profit hospital donors will come out ahead. He gets donations from eight for-profit chains with no facilities in Montana.
