Poor reporting is the standard on this confrontation, with reporters interchangeably using Iraq Army with Security forces and Police forces with partisan militia. Reporters generally fail to mention the Badr militia’s involvement or our propping up the assault with Special Forces.  

A US military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Stover is calling the fighters “criminals.”  Reporters without comment or context pass on this label.  The military counts anyone killed or wounded as enemy or now, criminals

Bushco is now involved in a civil war between competing Shia groups and in support of a weak coalition nominally headed by al-Maliki.  I wonder when the Sunni get pissed enough to use the arms they stored during the invasion and arms supplied by the US for use against &quot;Al-Qaeda in Iraq&quot; and turn on the US, again?</description>
